About Homeopathy
History of Homeopathy

The practice of homeopathy was founded by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755 - 1843). Based on his observations and experiments, he formulated a principle named "Law of Similars". The word homeopathy comes from the Greek words (Homios) meaning similar and (Pathos) meaning suffering. He stated that if a substance given to a healthy person produces symptoms, it can cure a diseased person with the same symptoms. Similia Similibus Curentur which translates to (Like cures Like).

Homeopathy is a 200 year old system of medicine that uses plants, minerals, or animal sources in very minute doses to stimulate the body’s immune system to heal itself. Homeopathic remedies have NO toxic chemicals, NO side effects, and DO NOT interfere with other medications. Therefore, it is safe for everyone to use, even pregnant women and babies.

Homeopathy is a natural, holistic system of medicine that treats the person, NOT the disease. It treats the ”unique individual" on all levels; physical, mental and emotional. This practice will improve health on all levels of body and mind.

What to expect at a Homeopathic Consultation

Since Homeopathy treats the totality of the individual's symptoms, a very detailed consultation is required. There are over 3000 remedies that exist and a Homeopath seeks to find the best remedy for you. You will be asked to describe all your symptoms in detail, family history, likes and dislikes, emotional and physical trauma, stress, lifestyle, sleep, dreams, and much more. As you describe your symptoms, the homeopath may ask questions to clarify those details because a true understanding of all your symptoms is crucial.

In other words, a Homeopath tries to get to know as much as possible about your problem and seeks to understand how it affects your life. It is important to identify what are the rare and unique characteristics of your symptoms in order to choose the appropriate remedy.

For Example: If 10 people have a chief complaint of headache, each person may receive a different remedy depending on the characteristics of their symptoms.
